Holly Borth will be presenting this session. Field technicians are often called upon to support built environment specialists during surveys and compliance work. This primer will provide a practical, accessible overview of what built environment professionals need from the techs in the field. It will cover how to recognize key architectural features, identify relevant contextual information, and produce clear, useful field notes. It will also offer guidance on taking effective, professional-quality photographs to ensure that documentation can be confidently used in evaluation and reporting. This training equips field staff with the tools to collect consistent, high-quality data, ultimately improving collaboration, reducing the need for repeat site visits, and supporting more efficient and accurate reporting. (And maybe some fun mobile home facts). Sign up for a spot in the Google Sheet linked here by adding your email address to the designated session. Thank you to our session sponsor, Willamette Cultural Resource Associates!
Brandy Rinck will review how to draw a test unit or excavation unit profile. Although not as good as doing it in the field, real life profile examples will be used virtually to look at the soils and sediments and discuss what to draw, the right notes to take, as well as other things to add. Sign up for a spot in the Google Sheet linked here by adding your email address to the designated session. Thank you to our session sponsor, King County Parks!
Sierra Harding will provide this session which will introduce the practice of implementing Inadvertent Discovery Plans (IDPs) during archaeological monitoring. We will go over the pertinent laws regulating discoveries of artifacts and human remains, look at a few common templates, and discuss how to implement an IDP while monitoring construction and other activities. Sign up for a spot in the Google Sheet linked here by adding your email address to the designated session. Thank you to our session sponsor, Dudek!
